Read the Case Study XYZ Company
XYZ company whose real name we cannot disclose, uses LANSA Composer to automate time-consuming, manual processes. The Composer applications integrate with JD Edwards Enterprise One.
- XYZ's first Composer project involves the automatic retrieving of signed Proof-of-Delivery documents (PODs) from the carriers they deal with. PRO-numbers, codes that are assigned by the carrier to uniquely identify a delivery job, are printed in barcode format on the Bill-of-Loading documents. These documents are scanned and the PRO# is stored in the JDE AR records. A LANSA Composer based procedure runs daily looking for PRO records that have not yet been processed. Composer then for each PRO creates an XML document that requests the signed POD through the HTTP service, accessing the carrier's Web site. The image of the signed POD is then downloaded and stored on a XYZ's IBM i server and the link to the image is stored in JDE AR.
In the old manual procedure during peak times, several temporary staff were employed to manually download PODs from the carrier's Web site (or request by email), and match, print and file various AR documents with the POD. - A second LANSA Composer project involves the handling of AR checks. Using Desktop Deposit machines, XYZ transmits AR checks to its bank for processing. The next day the bank makes available for download XML formatted info and electronic images of the processed checks. LANSA Composer is used to retrieve the info and images from the bank and store the info/images in JDE AR. A similar project is on the way for handling AP checks.
- LANSA Composer will also be used to automate fax and email messages by sending FTPs and XML with alerts acknowledgements, and integration with back end systems and processes. Several traditional EDI processes are also going to be replaced with LANSA Composer.
